philips velo 500
i got my velo500 in a ebay-style site some time ago. here is some pics. since this little piece of hardware came with wince, i started an effort to put it to run linux. as wince came in a rom that is soldered on velo's board, you need to download an image (containing kernel and a initrd image) and a bootloader to it then boot in linux. it will be be easier if you have one of those flash cards or even if you have a v-module (add-on to make velo support pcmcia). here is the latest (used in development) image created by me (it may not even boot). please be patient as this machine isn't always online. and here is the loader (also required). in the first field put the path for image and in second (frame buffer) put sharp mobilion HC 4100/4500. you may find more information in linux-vr project, Pavel Machek's velo1 port page and Stefan Raaijmakers' velo500 port page.
[31/05/2001] i've figured out why when you try to recover your system using activesync it says that velo is incompatible: i installed service pack 1. so, it grabs a different wince version and don't let you to restore. :P
[01/06/2001] ok, isn't the wince version, it's the international settings. after changed to portuguese (brazilian) it worked.
[13/12/2002] my velo is dead. the damn lcd flat cable ripped. it still works but i can't see a damn thing.

apple newton messagepad 130
well, someday i'll put something here about it. maybe when i actually develop something to it.
[28/10/2004] Ok, I tried to use it again to read some pdfs on the bus. No luck, there's no pdf reader and it's a PITA to convert every damn pdf in html (and use a shareware browser) or in text. Also, my newton's backlight doesn't work anymore, so I bought a new palm.
palm tungsten E
I got this palm in october, 2004. It's amazing. I can listen to mp3 while I read some pre-processed pdfs. Ok, I have to reboot in windows every new pdf I get. It's OS remains the same: some resets caused by bad applications and the most notable problem: if I remove the sd card, it tells me the card is empty when I insert it back. Yes, I've installed the SDIO patch. Well, I try to don't push it. Just read pdfs, ebooks (ebook reader is a hell faster than acrobat, must find a way to easily convert pdfs in ebooks) and listen music. Playing mp3 is a battery eater, I guess it can play maybe 6h~8h.
[20/08/2005]ok, that problem turned out to be a problem in Launcher III, not in PalmOS. got some wonderful GPL licensed applications: power48, a free HP4{8{S,G},9} calculator emulator which is distributed; plucker, an offline html reader (which I use everyday, here is the "everyday's newspaper", updated daily).
